SUMMARY:Marine Fuel Cells – where are we now?
DESCRIPTION:Shipping is searching for its new zero-emissions power technology. Whilst combustion engines are still the market leaders\, fuel cell providers are intriguing us with the promise of higher efficiency and lowered fuel consumption. How ready are the FC technologies\, and do they have a solid business case? And just how much more effective are they proving to be?     \nWhile fuels such as ammonia and hydrogen will drastically reduce emissions\, we also see vast potential in utilizing a higher percentage of the energy available in each fuel. This is where fuel cells come in\, as the most energy-efficient devices for extracting power from fuels. \nThe European projects ShipFC and FLAGSHIPS are both demonstrating fuel cell technologies for achieving their zero-emission solutions for maritime activities. In this Tech Update\, we’ve gathered representatives from ShipFC\, FLAGSHIPS\, and other leading actors within the FC ecosystem. The topic: Status quo of fuel cells for marine use. \nIn this webinar\, both providers\, users and researchers will answer questions on efficiencies\, challenges and how far they have come on the road to commercialization. \nJoin us on the 15 March to get the answers. \nAgenda:  \n\nIntroduction\, Tore Boge\, Project Manager Maritime CleanTech/Project Coordinator ShipFC\n “A shipowners perspective”\, Hilde-Kristin Sæter\, Project Manager\, Norled\n “Production status quo”\, Kristina Fløche Juelsgaard\, Director of market development\, Ballard\n “Production status quo”\, Torleif Stokke\, Head of Commercialization\, Alma Clean Power\n “Production status quo”\, Pedram Nadim\, Business Developer Hydrogen Technology\, TECO2030\n “Production status quo”\, Seonghoon Woo\, CEO\, Amogy\n “Fuel cell market position”\, Anders Ødegård\, Senior Project Manger\, SINTEF\n Concluding remarks\, Tore Boge\, Project Manager Maritime CleanTech/Project Coordinator ShipFC\n\nPlease sign up here.

SUMMARY:Electric Hybrid Marine Conference
DESCRIPTION:During the conference in Amsterdam\, ShipFC lessons are part of Persee’s presentation in the session on Assessing alternative fuels for hybrid vessels\, 22 June. \nColin Bettini\, Technical lead – fuel cell at Persee\, will present Successes and challenges of fuel cell and hydrogen propulsion systems. \nFuel cell hybrid systems are steadily emerging as a solution for the decarbonization of commercial transport. Hydrogen and other hydrogen carriers achieve high emission savings from widely used fuels and drive high expectations for the shipping of the future. \nThe presentation outlines the experience\, hurdles and success of four ongoing FCHJU-funded maritime projects: Maranda\, Flagships\, ShipFC and HyShip. In a cross-analysis\, we will explore the readiness level of the hydrogen and fuel cell technologies available on the European market. \nThe presentation also addresses current and upcoming challenges to truly achieve zero-emission shipping.

SUMMARY:ONS: The Green Offshore Fleet: Who Takes the Bill?
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe offshore fleet emitted nearly 1.5 million tons of CO2 in 2022. To reduce this number\, the government has announced requirements for low emissions starting in 2025 and zero emissions by 2029. Yet\, it is still unclear what the regulations will look like. \nHow will politicians facilitate green logistics chains in the offshore industry? What solutions are available for low and zero emissions? And not least: Who will pay for the new technology? Maritime CleanTech invites key politicians and industry players to a debate in Vågen during ONS 2024. \nFeaturing: \nAndreas Bjelland Eriksen\, Minister of Climate and Environment (Ap) – TBC\nTina Bru\, Member of Parliament (H)\nTorgeir Knag Fylkesnes\, Member of Parliament (SV)\nMorten Sundt\, Maritime Operations Manager at Equinor\nGitte Gard Talmo\, CEO at Eidesvik Offshore\nLars Peder Solstad\, CEO at Solstad Offshore\nThor Magnus Rovik\, Country Manager at Fortescue Future Industries Norway

SUMMARY:Policy Update: Zero-Emission Requirements for the Norwegian Offshore Fleet
DESCRIPTION:The Norwegian  government has announced zero-emission requirements for the offshore fleet\, and last year the Norwegian Parliament decided that low-emission requirements will be introduced in 2025 and zero-emission requirements from 2029. \nThe offshore fleet is the spearhead of technological development in Norwegian shipping. It consists of around 500 vessels of various types and is the world’s most valuable offshore fleet after the USA. It accounts for around 30 percent of emissions from Norwegian shipping\, which is the highest of all segments\, and is crucial for achieving climate goals. \nIs the technology and industry ready for zero-emission requirements for the offshore fleet? How can we establish the necessary infrastructure and value chain\, and how should the requirements be formulated to have the greatest impact on transformation? \nTogether with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Climate and Environment\, Maritime CleanTech invite operators on the continental shelf\, offshore shipping companies\, technology firms\, and the rest of the value chain to a breakfast meeting to discuss the way forward. \nShipFC partners Eidesvik and Wartsila will present their take on story!
